Privacy Policy

Faith in the Footnotes is a small family project, not a corporation. We have no interest in selling your information, building ad profiles, or collecting anything we don't need. This page explains plainly what we do collect and why.
A family archive
Faith in the Footnotes is operated by a private family based in the United States. We are not affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any commercial organization. You can reach us at hello@footnotes.co.
Information we hold
Account information
If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We use this only to authenticate you and to send transactional emails (password reset, email verification). We do not send marketing email.
Favorites and preferences
Saved favorites and reading-mode preferences are stored in your account so they follow you across devices. This data belongs to you and is deleted when you delete your account.
Citation submissions
If you submit a missing citation, we store the content of your submission along with your account ID so we can follow up. We do not share submissions with third parties.
Technical logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) collect standard server logs — IP addresses, request timestamps, browser type — as part of normal infrastructure operation. We do not control or independently analyze these logs.
Our commitments
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We do not run advertising or build behavioral profiles.
- We do not share your data with third parties except as required to operate the site (Vercel for hosting, Supabase for the database).
- We do not send marketing or promotional emails.
- We do not use cookies beyond what is strictly necessary for authentication.
Who processes your data
We use two infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication. Data is stored on servers in the United States. Supabase Privacy Policy

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other behavioral tracking tools.
Access and deletion
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@footnotes.co. We will respond within 30 days.
Signed-in users can also manage their account and delete saved favorites directly from the Account page.
Under 13
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Updates to this policy
If we ever make material changes to this policy we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not silently begin collecting new categories of data.
